Matthew Gwar Burkaa is a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (The equivalent of a Queen’s Counsel in England) and a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitration (UK). Mr. Matthew Burkaa’s formal education took him through the Government College, Obi Nasarawa State and the prestigious Ahmadu Bello University Zaria where he graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Law and later the Nigerian Law School, Lagos Campus. He was admitted to the Nigerian Bar in 2006 after he graduated from both institutions with a Second Class (Upper) degree. He has over 15 years varied experience in litigation and advocacy. He commenced his career as a pupil Counsel at the Chambers of the Attorney General, Ministry of Justice, Yobe State. He also worked as a draftsman at the Yobe State House of Assembly before joining the firm of S.M & Co in Damaturu, Yobe State and thereafter the law firm of Tayo Oyetibo & Co in Lagos, Nigeria where he served as a Senior Counsel for about 7 years and horned his skills in litigation and advocacy. He has also attended extensive trainings and development courses both in Nigeria and abroad on skills enhancement in core areas such as Oil and Energy law, Labour Law, Family Law, Bankruptcy Law, etc. Matthew Burkaa’s greatest skills are in litigation, advocacy & arbitration where he has acted for clients, settled briefs of arguments and appeared in very high profile civil and criminal matters from the lowest court to the Supreme Court in Nigeria. He is also very skilled in negotiating complex deals for clients. Matthew Burkaa, SAN has a multi-disciplinary background in diverse areas of Corporate Governance Law and has also obtained a Master’s Degree (LL.M) from the University of Lagos. He is a Notary Public of Nigeria. He is an active member of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), the International Bar Association (IBA) and a volunteer member of Amnesty International. He is the Managing Partner of the firm. Matthew Burkaa, SAN, has been recognized and honored by his alma mater, the Ahmadu Bello University, Faculty of Law, and he is frequently mentioned in legal news and on social media for his work and professional achievements.

Genevieve Maguaje (Mrs) Esq, graduated from the prestigious University of Nigeria Nsukka (Enugu Campus) with LL. B (Hons) in 2005. She was called to the Nigerian Bar in 2006 as Barrister and Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Nigeria. She is currently a member of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA). She has Worked as a litigation lawyer and has acquired wealth of experience in both Legal practice, corporate, commercial and business law in different law firms. E.g., J. K Gadzama & Co, Mike Ozekhome’s Chambers, Abraham Adesanya & Co. and many others. She is also an Alternative Dispute Resolution expert (ADR). Genevieve Maguaje (Mrs) Esq, is currently one of the Neutrals with Lagos State MultiDoor Courthouse (LMDC) and a Certified Mediator. She is also a facilitator of Restorative Justice practice with Lagos State MultiDoor Courthouse (LMDC) and a member of Nigerian Bar Association, Women Forum (N.B.A.W.F).

Adesina Kayode, Esq was called to the Nigerian Bar in 2014 after graduating from the Lagos State University, Ojo. He commenced the practice of law as a pupil Counsel at the Department of Public Prosecution, Ministry of Justice, Ogun State. He has previously worked for TREE &; TREES Ltd, a Law Research Institute and Atlantic Mall, Lekki. Where he worked as the Legal Officer/Compliance Officer. He is also a member of the Nigerian Bar Association. Mr. Adesina Kayode is skilled in Real Property Law, Intellectual Property Law, Corporate Governance and Commercial Law.

Dr. Idris Bala Ahmad, Esq is a graduate of Bayero University, Kano in combine Honour of Islamic and Civil Law. He attended the Nigerian Law School, Lagos Campus and was called to the Nigeria Bar in 2015. He maintained Second Class (Upper) Divisions in both LLB and his BL. He had earlier obtained a Diploma in Law from Justice Fati Lami Abubakar College of Art and Islamic Studies, Minna, Niger State. He commenced his legal practice with Sodangi A. Danso & Co. in 2015 in Abuja. He did his National Youth Service with the Civil Litigation Department, Rivers State Ministry of Justice, Port Harcourt. Early this Year, 2025, he obtained his Master of Laws (LL.M) from Bayero University, Kano. He is a Fellow in Cyber Security Forensic Studies. Also in September, 2025, he was conferred with Honorary Doctorate Award by Embry Ridddle Aeronautical University USA. Dr. I. B. Ahmad, a Senior Associate joined this Law Firm in 2018 and has been in active legal practice with specialization in electoral matters, criminal litigation, corporate, Islamic Law and environmental matters.

J.N Okoronkwo, Esq was called to the Nigerian Bar in 2019 after graduating from Abia State University, Uturu in 2018. She has obtained her Barrister at Law (BL) and Bachelors of Law (LL.B) degrees respectively. She is currently into active legal practice in the Law Firm and has gained knowledge and experience through her contribution to the General Litigation Practice, Banking Law, Maritime Law, Industrial Law, to mention but a few.

Agwungwu Emmanuel, Esq obtained his Bachelor of Laws (LL. B) Degree from Benue State University, Makurdi in 2017 and proceeded to Nigerian Law School, Abuja Campus in 2018 where he obtained his Barrister at Law (BL) Certificate and was called to the Bar as Barrister and Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Nigeria in 2019. During his National Youth Service Year between 2019-2021, he developed an ardent interest in litigation and has remain in active legal practice till date. He is currently engaged with the firm and has amassed wealth of experience in general legal practice through his participation in different cases involving but not limited to election petition law, oil and gas/energy law, labour law, criminal law, corporate practice arbitration. He aspires to obtain further specialization in Communication and Information Technology Law.

Gordon Orowo Apina started his academic career when he first attended Anglican Primary School, Marine Beach Apapa, Lagos. He also attended Apapa High School, Apapa and then Creek High School, Tolu Complex, Lagos for his Secondary School Education. He further attended University of Benin, Benin City, Edo State, where he also obtained a Certificate Diploma-in-Law from the Faculty of Law. He graduated from the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN) where he obtained his Bachelor’s Degree in Law and awaits to proceed to the Nigerian law School. He has over a decade of experience in Litigation filing with various Law Firms like: Abel Partners (Pro Juris), Tayo Oyetibo, LP, Nojim Tairu & Co. He is currently with the firm as Litigation officer 1/Facility manager.

Ejembi Nicholas was born and brought up in Kaduna State. He obtained his National Diploma (ND), in Marketing from the Benue State Polytechnic, Ugbokolo. He has over 11 years working experience ranging from working as a Marketer in a Popular Bank (UBA) and also as a Litigation Officer in the Law Firm of Tayo Oyetibo and Co. Mr Ejembi Nicholas is a hardworking man and very dedicated to his duties and also motivates his colleagues

VIVIAN CHIDINMA OKORIE is a graduate of Abia State University, Uturu (ABSU), Bachelors of Science (BSc) in Banking and Finance. She is currently at the firm as the Secretary/Front desk officer. She is very dedicated to her work and hardworking.

FOLAKE EUNICE AKERELE is a graduate of Lagos State University (LASU), Bachelors of Science (BSc) in Computer Science. She is currently at the firm as the Personal Secretary to the Learned Silk.
