Matthew Burkaa is a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (The equivalent of a Queen’s Counsel in England) and a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitration (UK). He is currently the Principal Counsel of the firm. Mr Matthew Burkaa’s formal education took him through the Government College, Obi Nasarawa State and the prestigious Ahmadu Bello University Zaria where he graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Law and later the Nigerian Law School, Lagos Campus. He was admitted to the Nigerian Bar in 2006 after he graduated from both institutions with a Second Class (Upper) degree. He has over 15 years varied experience in litigation and advocacy. He commenced his career as a pupil Counsel at the Chambers of the Attorney General, Ministry of Justice, Yobe State. He also worked as a draftsman at the Yobe State House of Assembly before joining the firm of S.M  & Co in Damaturu, Yobe State and thereafter the law firm of Tayo Oyetibo & Co in Lagos, Nigeria where he served as a Senior Counsel for about 7 years and horned his skills in litigation and advocacy. He has also attended extensive trainings and development courses both in Nigeria and abroad on skills enhancement in core areas such as Oil and Energy law, Labour Law, Family Law, Bankruptcy Law, etc. Matthew Burkaa’s greatest skills are in litigation, advocacy & arbitration where he has acted for clients, settled briefs of arguments and appeared in very high profile civil and criminal matters from the lowest court to the Supreme Court in Nigeria. He is also very skilled in negotiating complex deals for clients. Matthew Burkaa, SAN has a multi-disciplinary background in diverse areas of Corporate Governance Law and has also obtained a Masters Degree (LL.M) from the University of Lagos and is a Notary Public of Nigeria, a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitration and a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN). He is an active member of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), the International Bar Association (IBA) and a volunteer member of Amnesty International. He is the Managing Partner of the firm.

Adesina Kayode, Esq was called to the Nigerian Bar in 2014 after graduating from the Lagos State University, Ojo. He commenced the practice of law as a pupil Counsel at the Department of Public Prosecution, Ministry of Justice, Ogun State. He has previously worked for TREE & TREES Ltd, a Law Research Institute and Atlantic Mall, Lekki where he worked as the Legal Officer/Compliance Officer. Hope Kesmen, Esq graduated from the University of Jos in 2016, where she obtained her Bachelor’s degree in Law. She was called to the Nigerian Bar in 2017. Hope had gained experience from law firms such as Dan T. Gwaza and Co. and has worked with Linchpin Technologies Ltd. where she proposed and advised clients on their employment relations and drafted various legal documents including agreements. Idris Bala Ahmad, Esq is a graduate of Bayero University, Kano. He attended the Nigerian Law School, Lagos Campus and was called to the Nigeria Bar in 2015. He maintained Second Class (Upper) in both Institutions. He had earlier obtained a Certificate Diploma-in-Law from Justice Fati Lami Abubakar College of Art and Islamic Studies, Minna, Niger State. He commenced his legal practice with Sodangi .A. Danso & Co. in Abuja. He served with the Civil Litigation Department & Rivers State Ministry of Justice, Port Harcourt. He has been in active legal practice and currently an LL.M (Master of Laws) student of Bayero University, Kano. His specialities are criminal litigation, electoral matters, Islamic law and constitutional law.
